Once upon a time

For those of you out there that love tv shows about fantasy like characters look no further than Once Upon a Time.  The show premiered I  2011on the ABC network because thats the disney network. I love Disney and disney movies I'm a nineties kid through and through and us ninties kids love our cartoons. So Once Upon a time was right up my alley.

The show is about what happens when the characters of our favorite fairytale are forced to live in the real world. The idea of the stories are esentially the same but there's twists and the interweaving between the fairytales is pretty good too.

The characters are stuck in our modern world and the only one who can save them is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming.

Now that I have seen all 3 seasons I can honestly say that even though I'm a little over the revealing numerous backstabbing family members I'm so  glad that my favourite character is no longer evil. Well not as evil as she used to be.

The show stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Lana Parilla, Josh Dallas  and Jennifer Morrison  as the heroes and one villan that are most important to the plot. Ginnifer sometimes gets on my nerves but thats just because I dont like her face. I just dont think she is pretty enough to be Snow White or a main character.  Plus everytime I see her I think of "hes just not that into you."

Verdict:  Watch this show if you enjoyed Disney movies as a kid and if you ever wondered about what happens after the end.  Sometimes the show can get a little corny and a tad repetetive but belive me that its like wine and it just gets better with time. Do not watch if you hate magical realism or vengeful people.

House of cards

This show was one of the few political shows to grab my attention. Hearlded by Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright its just a tour de force that literally hooks you in.

The show is about Frank Underwood and his ascension up the political echelon to the most loftiest and powerful  place in the world. The Presidency.  He is the house whip, which if your like me and had to google, is the person who gets the houses to agree by whiping the votes through deals and agreements.

I dare anyone to watch this show and stop at just one episode. Its just so good and the second season is even better than the first.

Now Frank Underwood was a good house whip but he had loftier ambitions and when the current president fucked him over he decided to make his own way up.  Helped by his equally conniving and beautiful wife Claire he uses bribery, blackmail, and sheer ruthlessness to get what he believes is best.

I love Kevin Spacey.  Look up the Jimmy Fallon  " Talk Dirty to me" and you will love him to. On this show I just cant see anyone being  any better than him. I mean Frank is almsot sociopathic in his quest for presidency. And I love him for that. I love the way he breaks the wall and talks  to the camera. I love that the show always surprises me. I just love this show.

There was one character in the first season that I didnt like, mainly because I dont like the actress, hated her in AHS:Murderhouse too, but happily she is not in season 2 for very long. Also for a show that isnt on HBO or USA or NBC its a great show. Its spectacularly written and brilliantly executed. Netflix has a big hit. I was very upset that they did not win any Emmys. But there is always next year.

My verdict is: Take a weekend and BINGE WATCH BOTH SEASONS!!!

Charmed

This is the first show I watched from beginning to end. I watched the season finale my first episode. I got into it a little late.  When I got Netflix back in 2010 I decided to start fresh.
The show is about three sisters who discover that they are witches. But not just witches but the chosen ones. Meaning they are the ones chosen to defeat all evil *insert dramatic music here* they had a minor cast change in season 4 but overall the show was pretty awesome.  I love magical realism and even though some of the writing, ok most of it, wasn't to original I still loved it.

My favorite sister had to be Piper. She was the middle sister at first and then became the eldest. I loved her power.

The show is also a really geeat way to hear some forgotten but decent songs from the late 90's early '00's . Orgy, Blue Oyster Cult, Blue October and  a shitton of others played at P3 the club that Piper owned. And lets not forget the amazing theme song! A remake of the smiths , "how soon is now" .

The show lasted 7 seasons and if you ask me it was one season to much.  I think it lasted so long because of the shows premise it was like nothing else on air. I was not a fan of the seventh season at all. I hated HATED the character Billie, played by Kaley Cuoco. She was supposed to be a witch who wad looking for a sister but ughh she just managed to be extra annoying.

The first three seasons were the best. I loved Prue and her powet I loved the dynamic between the sisters.  However Shannon Doherty was a bitch to everyone so she got killed off. Enter Rose McGowan remember her? The one with the see through dress who briefly dated Marilyn Manson? Yeah she was as pointless then as that dress and relationship.

Verdict: watch the first 3 seasons and maybe the fourth if you want to get to know Paige but then skip immediately to the shows finale episode.

The Japanese Cometh.... Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Cardcaptor Sakura

Sailor Moon

In the 90's there was a surge of Anime's that hit the American air-waves. Among the most popular Pokémon there was also Sailor Moon, a cartoon about a normal 14 yr old girl who discovers she is a long lost warrior from the Moon. Needless to say to a five year old like myself nothing made me more excited than to fight crime in a dress. Rushing home to be on time to hear the theme song "Fighting evil by moonlight/winning love by daylight/never running form a real fight/ she is the one named Sailor Moon"..... I could go on, honestly I loved this show so much and now as an adult I get so excited that the propaganda for this show is growing . The Americans cancelled the show after the second season but in Japan they kept going. Later as an adult I watched the entire series over and you know what? It hadn't lost any of it s brilliance for me. Even though Serena is essentially doing the same thing for 200 episodes you are enamored by her and the antics of her and the sailor scouts. Personally my favorite is and always has been Sailor Mercury, as an only child she was who I could associate with on tv. She was smart, quiet and generally a peacemaker according to me I was a blonde version of her. I have now come to the halting realization that I am more like Serena aka Sailor Moon; not that smart, ditzy and lazy. I love love this show.

This is the best representation of me:

This is who I thought I was like:

This is who I'm more like apparently:

Pokémon

With Sailor Moon, came Pokémon an Anime about a boy in a world where the animals were called Pokémon. They were not like our animals as these had powers and were used to fight in giant arenas it was all very anti-peta now that I think about it, but back in my younger years it was nothing more than an awesome TV show about cute little things that spoke to me.. This is one of the few Japanese shows from the 90's that made it to the 2000's and is still popular today. I mean my brother who is 15 years younger than me watches this all the time. Creating new Pokémon, I don't think Ash will ever catch them all but he can sure try.

fave pokemon ever and its evolutions

And according to everyone in my middle school, back in 2003, this is what I looked like.....

 Cardcaptor Sakura

This is one of those shows that not a lot of people remember, every time I mention it everyone gives me a blank face. I loved this show but didn't keep watching it after they stopped airing it like Sailor Moon, and it was cancelled very quickly so I didn't get to know it like Sailor Moon and Pokémon. Still I thought it was worth mentioning.

I Love Lucy

Starring the red-headed comedienne Lucille Ball and her husband Desi Arnaz, this show was the precursor to all other shows. By the time I was six, this had been in syndication for about 30 years. This is one of the first shows I watched growing up. I spent a lot of time with my grandma and this was perfect for us to bond over. I just love it.

The show is about a 50's housewife named Lucy who gets herself into silly situations and tries to get her self out of these situations with help from her best friend and partner in crime Ethel before her husband Ricky finds out. Note to all: he always found out.

The show which premiered in the 50's is widely popular and a icon of American History.

LA's most sedentary woman ever... a.k.a me.

Now I don't say this with pride.. but I am perhaps the most laziest person ever. Why is that important? Because dear reader you will learn that this is one of the strongest factors in my path to watching so many shows, movies and learning every commercial jingle. I have another blog that is mostly about personal stuff and I have inundated it with all of my movie rants and book reviews. Hence why this is coming about. So here's the skinny, I'm going to post MY opinion on tv shows, movies, books and celebrities. There will be months where I will be posting lots, months were I go static. Enjoy
